EXERCISE

I don’t like the mentality that promotes exercise as the way to health, no matter what. ’Tired? Go exercise’. Exercise is NOT necessarily healthy, it totally depends on your unique situation. Exercise doesn’t equal health (or energy). Exercise is a stressor, and if you already have a load of stress in your system, even more stress through exercise, aren’t the solution. Exercise breaks your body down. That’s the purpose of exercise. To break muscles down and to build it up again- past the point you were before the exercise. When your body is tired and burned out because of stress, exercise still breaks your body down- but you aren’t able to recover because you don’t have the ability to build yourself up again.

If you are struggling with something stress related (which most things are) like major hormonal imbalances and HPA dysfunction (‘adrenal fatigue’), EXERCISE IS THE LAST THING YOUR BODY NEEDS, IT HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH WITH TRYING TO KEEP YOUR HEAD ABOVE THE WATER. Many people are tired into the bone after keeping up with a high demand and a fast paced lifestyle. School. Social. Work. Exercise, etc. A never ending pressure that results in people getting sick.

The ‘exercise or die’ mentality is so indoctrinated in us that even many of those that are having issues DUE TO stress, aren’t able to see that exercise is something they should not be doing, as it’s only giving them even more stress, and making them even more sick. The inner voice of ‘having to work out’ is in control in most people and it contributes to more harm than good. If exercising comes from a place of wanting to, it’s one thing, (but it should still be re-considered in certain cases) but for many, it comes from a place of guilt and the aim to be ‘fit’ and ‘skinny’ (which in this situation, you won’t be anyway, because your body is focusing on being healthy, not on your ‘goals’)

Exercising when you need rest is counterproductive: in this situation it’s causing more problems than it solves. Your body is trying to keep you healthy, and you are only working against it by tearing it down.

A tired body needs a break. Rest, sleep, SLOW walks in nature, meditation and SLOW yoga only.
