BOOST PROGESTERONE NATURALLY
I know it would be easier if I just mentioned one thing to do, or one thing to take, for you to boost your progesterone levels, but the reality is not that simple. Healthy progesterone levels starts with healthy follicles, that use a 100 days to develop, which explains why boosting progesterone is a long term project. (But you won’t regret it). However, the most important thing when it comes to progesterone is to find out where the leak is, then seal it, before starting to ‘fill up’ again. Read more about the ‘pregnenolone steal’, here.
I know you might not want to hear that you have to stress less and sleep more BUT THAT IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAYS TO BOOST PROGESTERONE, and also where the biggest leaks happens.
I have written about progesterone in all my latests posts, each containing ways to stop the leak - and support the body in it’s own production, and if you want more in depth explainations, go there. If not, here’s a sum up, with some more added.
WAYS TO BOOST PROGESTERONE
Limit stress
Yoga and meditation
Sleep and rest more
Eat enough and nourish your body: healthy fats, eggs, organ meats, bone broth, herbs, grass-fed beef, wild caught fish
Sun exposure (especially in the morning)
Herbs like vitex
Repair your gut (protocol here)
Avoid inflammatory foods (sugar, gluten, soy)
Support your liver (enough proteins and nutrients, milk thistle and dandelion, avoid chemicals)
Balance your blood sugar (high insulin causes hormonal imbalances. Insulin itself is a hormone, but it can also throw all your other hormones out of whack. It can raise testosterone, especially in PCOSers, and lower the production of other hormones, the ones we want to be produced)
You’ll find more on each step elsewhere on the blog, I’ve covered it all, and even though those posts might not say ‘boost progesterone’ it certainly will, as our body is connected and everything you do to support it, will also support your hormones.
