Vision Board

A vision board is a collage of items, a sacred place, that are meant to kick start your imagination and help you visualise your goals. When you create a vision board and place it in a space where you see it often, your vision board brings your goals and aspirations to life as you essentially end up doing short visualization exercises throughout the day, and what we focus on expands.

Creating and using a vision board serves several purposes, like keeping your attention on your intentions, reinforcing your daily affirmations and getting a daily visual reminder of your dreams and goals. In the process of making a vision board you also have to actually identify your vision and give it clarity, making you reflect on what you want out of life.

What are you working towards? What are your goals?

Literally, a vision board is any sort of board on which you display images that represent whatever you want to be, do or have in your life. By creating a vision board you give yourself a clear picture of where you want to get to. And how does it work? The law of attraction. This belief is based upon the idea that like attracts like and so positive thoughts attract positive experiences, and negative thoughts attract negative experiences. So, when people say that ‘thoughts become things’, it is because when you think of what you want, subconsciously you act towards making that thing happen.

Vision boards are easy to create. You'll need some sort of board, you can use a cork board, a poster board, or a pin board and anything that inspires and motivates you - photos, quotes, sayings, images and reminders. Incorporate everything you'd like. There are no rules and the whole purpose of your vision board is to bring everything on it to life. Some people like to make one board, maybe a more broad one, others like to have a bunch of small ones for different areas of their life. Theme boards that center on specific events or areas of your life can be very useful, for instance a board for a specific living situation, including where in the world you'd like to settle, how it may look like, how it may feel like or a career specific board at your desk space that can help you work towards your desire and purpose.

Feel free to modify your vision board as the year progresses. Your life changes over time, and so should your board. Remember that a vision board is a work in progress. You can change it, add to it, or otherwise modify it as time goes by.

My friend Cecilie and I made ours the old fashioned way, with glue-stick and scissors, although many people make theirs on their tablet or phones. As you can see, the tropics are calling ones again. We'll see how this visualization goes.
